My way to enjoy and study of the Osaka Castle

We can enjoy many kinds of stone walls in the Osaka Castle and learn the Japanese history from them.

You can see very huge stones everywhere in the Osaka Castle.

This is the Osaka Castle.

Let me show some of the stone walls.

This huge stone is the forth biggest one there, the weight is 108 ton.

Old people used to pull and bring these huge and so many stones mainly from Shodoshima Island in Kagawa prefecture, about 140 km.

There are many holes among the stone walls like the following photo.

Can you understand why it was made?

The answer is to kill the enemies. When they got the enemies, they closed the door, shoot and killed them from the higher holes.

And the next interesting story, look at the following photo.

This is the cross section of it. The light brown is the first owner named Toyotomi Shogun, and the dark brown is the second one named Tokugawa Shogun.

The smaller castle is Toyotomi's, on the other hand, the bigger one is Tokugawa's.

The Tokugawa shogun wanted to show his stronger power than the former shogun all over Japan. He ordered his men to cover all over the former castle, made them take charge of their own parts of the construction with their own money in order to weaken their power.

If they failed, all their families would be killed. It means that they could have a chance to promote as well. So all of them tried to do their best to make the Tokugawa Castle.

As the last, you can look at the traces of the world war 2 from the stone walls, too.

There were many military factories near the Osaka Castle and it was easy to find where they were from the sky because of this Castle.

There were a lot of bombs dropping from American troops. We can see the traces of them, the lack of stone walls and slide of stones.

I like to looking up it from the ground just near the castle. It feels very huge and magnificent to see stone walls and the Castle.

We went to the Osaka Castle, cherry blossoms bloomed about 30-40%.

There were a lot of foreign tourists there.

大阪城と大阪城公園の桜を見に行きました。ネットで調べたら、少し咲いていると書いてたので行ったのですが、３分咲き位だったかな。
でもたくさんの外国人観光客が花見をしていました。

そこで大阪城について、少し説明もしました。私の英語力でどれだけ伝わってるのかな…。
私の大阪城の楽しみ方について、アップします。

私は何といっても石垣の美しさと大きな石というか、岩に目が奪われます。
上の写真は４番目に大きな石ですが、それを当時の人が小豆島から人力で運んできたなんて、どれだけ大変やったことか。108トンもあるそうです。

そんな石垣を見てても、歴史は勉強出来るんですよね。第二次世界大戦の空爆の跡がちゃんと残っているですね。石垣が少しズレていたり、欠けていたり。
当時、大阪城の近くに軍事施設があったので、空からでも大阪城はよく見えてたはず。
当時の大阪城に思いを馳せながら、眺めていました。

私はこの年になって知ったのですが、大阪城って豊臣秀吉が作ったと思っていました。
でも、上にある大阪城の断面図を見て貰って分かるように、今見ているのは徳川将軍が作ったものなんですね。（大阪市民の寄付により、第三回目のリモデルがされたので、詳しくはよく分かりませんが）

しかも、徳川家康って、賢い人間だとつくづく思いました。この改築をするために、自分のお金は使わず、部下に負担させ、彼らの財力と勢力を消耗させるとは。
一族の名にかけて、失敗は許されないし、昇進のためにもみんな頑張って作りますよね。
そんな外様大名の頑張りにより、今の大阪城があるんだなあって思いました。

そんなこんなを、頑張って英語で説明したけれど、まあ、自分の英語力の無さに笑えました。
でも一生懸命聞いて、分かったと言って写真を撮ってたけれど、このブログを見て初めて気づくかも～～。
もっとスピーキングを鍛えないとなあ・・・とつくづく思いました。

Interesting Trial Course to Make "SOBA"

My foreign friends have visited Japan and my family went sightseeing together, so I didn't upload my blog for these days.
I'd like to share my good memories with all of you, because I could enjoy them very much.

First of all, about a trial lesson of making soba.
Do you know what it is? It's one of Japanese noodles and made from buckwheat.
We made buckwheat noodles by ourselves.

My friend got an accident and a surgery on his hand just 5 days before leaving to Japan.
So he and I made it together with fun.
Another friend was really good at making it in spite of the first trial, the teacher praised him a lot.

This is our Soba.

And photos that we enjoyed making soba.

  1, Put the soba powder and water in a big bowl.

2, Put them together and knead it well.

3, Spread it into a round shape first。

 4, Spread more to 2 mm thickness by using a bar.

 5, Fold the sheet.

6, Cut the sheet with a soba knife.

It took about 2 hours.
We can eat our homemade soba in the next restaurant where we made it.
We ordered 3 bowls of soba and got many amount of soba noodles with it.
The shop packed the leftovers and put refrigerant to keep it cool, too.
They were really kind. 
Moreover the teacher was a nice and funny woman, I'd like to go there again.

My kid is 11 years old, she could do by herself with a little help when she spread the soba sheet.
It tasted very delicious because we did by ourselves, though there were many kinds of thickness in our soba, haha.


随分とご無沙汰していたような気がします。
その間、フィンランドからお友達が遊びに来てくれました。二日間、一緒に観光して、むっちゃ楽しい思い出がたくさん出来ました。
見ての通り、友だちは日本に来る五日前に仕事中に怪我をして、手術をしたばかりの身。
腕にギブスをしているので、二人で仲良く作りました。
もう一人のお友達は、初めての体験だったのにも関わらず、テキパキと一人でこなしていき、先生に褒められまくっていました。器用ですね。

先生も愉快で、分かりやすい説明だったので、すごく簡単に、楽しく作れました。
その作りたての蕎麦を、隣の店で湯がいてくれてくれるので、いろんな厚みのある自分で打った蕎麦を食べました。
今回は容器３つ分＝3こね分を申し込んだのですが、食べきれない量の蕎麦が出来ました。
捨てるのは勿体ないので、お店の人がご厚意で残った分だけを入れ物に入れて、保冷材まで付けて用意してくれました。
自分らで作った蕎麦って、格別ですね。お友達も大満足だったようです。良かった良かった。

ちなみに、うちの子は春から６年生。生地を拡げる時に少しお手伝いが要っただけで、後は一人で黙々と作っていました。
子どもでもそこそこ出来ると思います。
