Kids' Homework during a summer vacation in Japan

Today's topic is about students' homework during this summer vacation in Japan.
Do you have homework in a school vacation in your country?

As I told here, our summer vacation is almost 1 month and from elementary to high school kids have to do much homework.
Among them, elementary schools are the least, they have 8 things in my younger daughter's school.

1. Workbook　ドリル

2. Writing in her dairy every day　毎日の一行日記

3. Drawing a poster related to the world peace.　平和ポルタ―

4. Research or arts and crafts　自由研究・自由制作

She wants to make a room of a house with cardboard boxes.

段ボール箱を使って、こんな家の一部屋を作りたいみたい。

5. Making a memo sheet to understand what this book is written　本の帯

6. Exercise to play the recorder　リコーダー練習

7. Calligraphy　習字（２～４字の好きな文字）

8. Attendance at the summer pools for 15 times in total 　プール参加

This summer has less than the usual, a book report was gone. 
They don't need to read a book and write their own impressions about it in decided amounts of letters. 
 My daughter was really glad because she always managed to do it just before the end of a summer vacation with crying because she couldn't understand what she should write. Haha.

 

今年は読書感想文が希望者のみになっていました。

あれは良い作品を提出しないといけないので、選出のために、担任の先生は勿論、その読書感想文担当の先生が全部読むので大変なんだよなあ。だから希望者のみになったのかなって思いました。

当然子どもたちも、毎年夏休みの終盤ごろ、泣きながら書いている読書感想文を出さなくても良くなって、すごく喜んでいました。

One of my younger's homeworks during the summer vacation, 

drawing related to the worldwide peace.

I haven't written here for some days, and I had a lot of things I had to think about my adolescent older daughter.

We got the meeting about her future among her teacher, my daughter and me days ago.
We were the first pair on the day, and when I got there, the next one already came up.
But my older daughter was late for the meeting for 5 mins, her teacher forgot to bring handouts to parents and went to take them to the teachers' room. We started lately, which must be annoying to the later people...

And she was said "Yabai" by her teacher.
It means too bad score, kind of slang of Japanese. As you know, she has been in her adolescent years and her attitude towards studies isn't steady, getting worse and worse.
There are not too much for me to help her who hasn't listened to me, but I'm thinking in myself that I will try to talk with her one more time again and what attempts I will do to her.

While I decided and talked to her as I have thought before, I feel like having some good response from her.
Thinking about her past... She had kept away from her friends and being alone all the time during her elementary school days, in the end, there was no trouble with them. Therefore, we didn't have an opportunity to talk between her and me, and this is the first time. 

Since I have talked with my son and the younger daughter in every trouble until now, we have built the mutual trust between us.
Without the trust between my older daughter and me and moreover her age, I had to think how I should talk and lead her more carefully.

Though I don't know which one worked well, that I talked or that she was said by her teacher and noticed it by herself, she becomes to be better, I feel.

Well, it's yesterday!
We have been annoyed with bugs recently, and we could find it out.at last
As soon as my husband opened her bags, something weird showed up, or some used lunch boxes and bags. 
I have known where they were left for more than a few weeks and said to her to wash them, but she always complained back to me.
He opened and noticed some pugas there... After he threw them away, my daughter cleaned them with yelling loudly.
I thought it was a good chance to ask her to understand what it would happen when she didn't tidy up. She answered she would clean it as soon as possible.

長女のことで色々と考えているうちに、あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまい、その間、少し遠のいていました。

先日、三者懇談がありました。
その日私たちは、一組目だったのですが、娘は５分位遅刻してきた上に、担任の先生も保護者に配る配布物を職員室に忘れたと言って取りに行き、定刻時間からかなり遅れてスタートしたので、その後の人たちにとっては、結構迷惑だったのではないかなって思います。

そして娘は、先生から「やばいね」って一発目から言われました・・・。
ご存知の通り、ただ今思春期真っ只中。生活態度がそのまま学習態度にも現れ、みるみる成績も下降の一途を辿っています。
聞く耳を持っていない娘に、私がしてあげれることはそれ程多くなくて、諦めていましたが、もう一度チャレンジしてみようかなって思ったので、ずっとどのようにアプローチしようか、一人で考えていました。

腹をくくって、考えていた通り話をしていく中で、少し手ごたえを感じたような気がします。
考えてみたら、長女は小学校の時は誰とも交流せず、ずっと一人でいたために、友だちとのトラブルが無かったんですね。だから母子で話合う機会もなく、今回が初めてとなりました。
息子や次女とは友だちとのトラブルなどで色々と話し合ってきたので、その間、信頼関係も築いていたけれど、そういえば長女とはその土台がない上に、歳も大きくなっているので、どんな風に話を持っていくか、難しかったです。

それが効いたのか、自分の置かれている状況を先生から言われて気付いたのか分からないけれど、少しだけ丸くなったような気がします。
まだまだ集中力は続かないけれど、自分で奮い立たせて頑張ろうとしているので、たまに「頑張ってるね」と”ちゃんと見守ってるよメッセージ”を送っています。

で、昨日！
最近、コバエが飛んでるなあってとても腹立たしく思っていたのですが、その原因が分かった・・・。

旦那が長女の袋を開けたとたん、怪しい物体が。いくつかのお弁当箱と袋。そこには食べ残しもあり、何週間前のかっていう位、腐敗していました。
私は見てないけれど、旦那はハエのサナギも沢山あったらしい・・・。それだけ取り除いて、後は娘がギャーギャー言いながら洗っていました。

これを機に・・・と思って、片付けを後回しにしたらどうなるか分かったかどうか聞くと、これからはすぐに洗うと言ってました。

それを水平展開させようと、服や持ち物の整理も、部屋の片付けもカビの話を大げさにしながら、改心させようかとしたけれど、それはもう少し時間がかかりそう。

細菌やカビが繁殖している所が見えるメガネとか、装置がお手軽価格で無いかしら・・・。
もしあれば、速攻、購入して娘に見せるのに。


何はともあれ、娘にすぐにお弁当を洗うことを教えてくれて、コバエちゃんたち、ありがとう～～！
