Kids' Homework during a summer vacation in Japan

Today's topic is about students' homework during this summer vacation in Japan.
Do you have homework in a school vacation in your country?

As I told here, our summer vacation is almost 1 month and from elementary to high school kids have to do much homework.
Among them, elementary schools are the least, they have 8 things in my younger daughter's school.

1. Workbook　ドリル

2. Writing in her dairy every day　毎日の一行日記

3. Drawing a poster related to the world peace.　平和ポルタ―

My daughter drew the globe while shaking each other.

地球上の人が手を繋いで平和を願っている絵

4. Research or arts and crafts　自由研究・自由制作

She wants to make a room of a house with cardboard boxes.

段ボール箱を使って、こんな家の一部屋を作りたいみたい。

5. Making a memo sheet to understand what this book is written　本の帯

6. Exercise to play the recorder　リコーダー練習

7. Calligraphy　習字（２～４字の好きな文字）

8. Attendance at the summer pools for 15 times in total 　プール参加

This summer has less than the usual, a book report was gone. 
They don't need to read a book and write their own impressions about it in decided amounts of letters. 
 My daughter was really glad because she always managed to do it just before the end of a summer vacation with crying because she couldn't understand what she should write. Haha.

 

今年は読書感想文が希望者のみになっていました。

あれは良い作品を提出しないといけないので、選出のために、担任の先生は勿論、その読書感想文担当の先生が全部読むので大変なんだよなあ。だから希望者のみになったのかなって思いました。

当然子どもたちも、毎年夏休みの終盤ごろ、泣きながら書いている読書感想文を出さなくても良くなって、すごく喜んでいました。
