My blog is about Japanese cooking recipes, cultures, the study of Basic Japanese and my dailies. I'd be happy if I let you understand what county Japan is like, and try to cook Japanese dishes at home.

Coming-of-Age Day in Japan
Yesterday is Coming-of-Age ceremony, the second Monday of January. We say "Seijin no hi" in Japanese.
We celebrate to welcome the young men and women, who have turned to be 20 years old during the current year. as new members of society.
There are ceremonies in every city and they come to get the right to vote and also allowed to smoke and drink.
My Coming-of-Age ceremony was long long time ago, I already forgot about it, moreover, there are still some years left until my kids get to be the age, so I have only watched the news on TV, but my nephew had it finally. She is 20 years old this year!
She wore the same kimono named "Furisode" as my older sister and me. Though so many years have passed since we did, but the kimono still looks awesome!
We are grateful to my parents and grandma for buying it for us even though it was too expensive.
Thanks for them, we could inherit it to our children, grandchildren and so on...
When my daughters looked at the photos, both of them said "I do want to wear it, too!"
I'm wondering how they will spend on the date. I'm looking forward to it.
Unfortunately it was rainy yesterday, my sister told to have been very busy all day so that she took her daughter to set the hair, wear the kimono in a beauty salon, take photos, drive her back and forth to a ceremony and hold an umbrella for her...
It had been a hard day yesterday!
