I suggested for my friend to swim there with his exercised body, but it was a little sad that he turned it down politely, lol. We changed to another destination.
This is a shrine named "Awashima Jinja", famous for holding a religious service for old and not used dolls and something like that.
It's worth taking a look at it beside visiting Tomogashima island and an old restaurant in the shrine named "Manko Shoten".
There are some ferries to Tomogashima island in a day, so check the schedule in advance.

Manko restaurant...
Shirasu rice : boiled tiny fish on rice with Japanese seasoning named ponzu
Wasabi soup : this stock is made by boiling fish bones and water for a long hours.
It has a lot of collagen in the soup good for the skin.
Wasabi is not common one, handmade fresh wasabi in the restaurant, very delicious.

My recommended plan is to visit Tomogashima island, Awashima shrine and Manko restaurant in a day, if you can have enough time there.
