Last Saturday, I went to an open school which my older daughter wanted to enter with her.
We have entrance exams of private high schools in February and public ones in March here.
She will have a meeting with her classroom teacher in November and has to decide what private school she will take.
So we could listen to the outline of the school, look around the lessons and club activities and eat at the cafeteria
all day.My daughter and her friend went away to see by themselves after the briefing session.
Most Japanese junior high and high schools of both private and public schools have their own uniforms and gym clothes. In old days, boys had to wear pants and girls do skirts, but recently it's changed. Girls can select pants or skirts, but boys are given no selection. I felt a little weird and thought everybody should select as they wanted when they changed.
The teacher told they were worried about students' being late before, but didn't have the problems anymore after introduction of a new rule. Students have to write why they are late and how they will do in the future every time to both a teacher in charge and their classroom teacher.
After my daughter's coming back home, I asked her impression. She answered it was different from what she thought and had no idea where to go.
I suggested she would start working, but soon she replied she wanted to go to school.
I'm looking forward to her selection.
She went to the movie with her young daughter the next day, "Your name", or "Kimino na wa"in Japanese.
It's very famous here especially among young people, and many of them went to watch it a few times.
