There are so many little rice fields on a mountain and the number is about 1340. It's a lot of difficulties to plant young rices with hands, but they have kept the ancient ways to plant them.
They will put rice plants there at once soon. It must be good when you take the photo early evening.

You can apply for the owner of this rice field and experience some events there such as to plant and cut the rice. It costs 30.000yen for a year, according to the homepage.

耕運機などの機械を入れることが出来ないし、この千枚田を維持するのは大変な事だなぁと思いながら、ホームページを見ていました。
維持管理が難しく、一時は千枚田が激減してしまったけれど、今ではオーナー制を取り入れて、どうにかこうにか1340枚まで復活したらしいです。
伝統ある所で、昔ながらの田植えや草刈り体験が出来るので、私は子供がもっと小さければ、参加していただろうなぁ。
