But this new year, we have 4 more holidays making up for the overlap of holidays on Sunday (substitute holiday). So we have 20 holidays in total.
So today is Coming-of-Age Day, we call "Seijin no hi (成人の日) in Japanese.
There are public ceremonies for 20 year old boys and girls in each cities.
After attending them, the young celebrate to become adults with their friends and families together.
There are many girls wearing special kimono called "Furisode(振袖)".
This long sleeves Furisode should be worn for only single girls usually.
So when you see a girl wearing it, she will perhaps be a single.
They have many troubles to walk with unfamiliar slippers named "Zouri(草履).
We can enjoy many colorful and beautiful kimonos on this day.
