We have 4 National holidays within a week as follows.

April 29 is Showa Day

May 3 is Constitution Memorial Day

May 4 is Greenery Day

May 5 is Children’s Day

And the combination of the 4 holidays and the weekends, we can get a long holidays here.

We say the Golden Week for the long holidays and which is 1 of the 3 biggests holiday seasons, besides New Year and Obon holidays.

Today is April 29, or Showa Day.

It’s the birthday of the former Emperor Showa Period, which was lasted from 1926 to 1989.

May 3 is the Constitution Day, the new constitution was established on this day in 1947.

May 4 is the Greenery Day, which is the day to enjoy the environment and the nature.

May 5 is the Children’s Day, or boy's festival. Families having a boy pray for the health, good luck and future success for their sons. (The girls’ festival is on March 3.)

We display a decoration of a carp streamer called ‘koinobori’ outside and samurai dolls inside.

This year’s Golden Week is all off for 7 days from April 29 to May 5 except for May 2.

During this long holidays, we usually go to say hello to our parents’ house.

However, all the translations and sightseeing spots are very crowded during the Golden Week.

Parents are very exhausted after coming back home and have to go to work with a little tired next day.

今日からいよいよゴールデンウイークが始まりましたね！

とはいえ、今日は旦那は出勤日・・・。息子はクラブに、娘はお友達と遊びに行ってしまったので、何もすることなく、のんびりブログを書いています。

我が家のゴールデンウイークは明日からです。楽しい連休をお過ごし下さい～～

This is the newspaper she made at the Kidzania.

She came back satisfied and delightedly from her school’s day trip yesterday.

We have school day trips twice in a year, spring and fall in Japan.

Almost schools here go to somewhere considered from their ages and for their studies by their teachers every grades, but my kid’s school is small, so every 2 grades like the 1st and 2nd go to the same day trip.

The 5th and 6th grade kids went to a kid’s amusement park of Kidzania in Hyogo prefecture.

Since there are the facilities all over the world, you might know what it is.

She left home at 7:15am, went there by chartered bus, played there in the groups of 3 and came back home at 3:45pm.

She went to as much as 8 working booths of hospitals, companies and hotel.

She worked as a surgeon, maternity nurse, dentist, journalist, electric engineer, hotel girl, workers at a sweet company and printing one.

She said a maternity nurse was the much interested among them.

I think nurses are very kind and caring, but she is used to being taken care of in my family and tends to select what she wants before others… I thought she was essentially apart from a nurse in my mind, but I didn’t hurt her by saying my honest opinion, hehe.

Anyway, she worked a lot with fun and bought a favorite orange pen from her earnings. And she showed it and left money.

She talked about everything she did, suddenly she sighed a little…

“Today was an English day there and they explained their works in English. I had a loooooot of troubles to understand what we did. As I looked at what they did carefully, I could understand what I should do though…”
