Futon and a Japanese-style room
Futon and its cover I bought
We don't have beds in my family. We use "futon", or a thick bed quilt.
We put it down on a tatami floor, fold it up after getting up and put it into a Japanese closet called "oshiire".
I like futon very much because of 3 reasons.
First of all, I like a Japanese-style room very much and futon goes well with it.
A Japanese-style room is warm in winter, and cool in summer, which is really good for seasons here.
When my kids were little, they often got out of futon and slept on the tatami floor directly, because they felt cool and comfortable.
And next, we can hang down futon outside when it's sunny.
And then, it become softer and thicker.
When my kids were little and peed there during their sleep, I could dry it with the sunlight outside or with a dryer soon.
At last, when I put them into a closet, we can use the room for the other aims, too.
Many Japanese houses are not big, so we tend to eat meals, watch TV and sleep in the same room. Futon is a really considerable convenient thing.
We have used 7 sets of futon, for 5 members and 2 guests since kids were born. I have wanted to buy new ones after kids' growing up.
Finally, I went shopping to get them, but I couldn't carry all for my family at once.
When I tried to sleep on a new futon once, how comfortable it is! I forgot what function it had.
My old one is just a thin sheet and It seems as if I slept on the tatami floor directly...
I selected 2 sets according to the comfortableness and lightness this time, but I also found a washable futon! I'm wondering how good it is... Anyone else uses it??
